We have dedicated ourselves to offering two things: fine dining and a truly authentic Chinese cultural experience. And at Cynthia's two locations that's what you'll find.

Founded by Cynthia & Joe Lam, Cynthia's Chinese Restaurant is the ultimate Chinese fine dining experience. Joe Lam learned the restaurant business in Hong Kong where he trained as a chef at one of the top restaurants. When he met Cynthia in Australia they married and opened a series of successful restaurants in New South Wales and Victoria. In 1992 Cynthia and Joe came to Canada and opened Cynthia's in 1993, working with Cynthia's brother Andy, another accomplished restaurateur. Within a few years there were demands from clients for another location and the Thornhill restaurant was opened in 1998 to much acclaim.

Cynthia's has found its market in Thornhill and Newmarket because our clientele recognize the quality of food and the detail of experience they get when they dine here.

The highly trained staff of Cynthia's is dedicated to making your dining experience exceptional. Your meal begins with your host leading you to the table where a ‘candle man', in traditional Chinese robes will light your candle. Once seated you'll be greeted by your cocktail waitress and your drinks and appetizers will be brought by a waiter trained to understand both Chinese cuisine as well as every customer's specific dietary needs.

Our wine list is extensive, we're proud to serve some of the finest wines from around the world. Your comfort at Cynthia's is everything – we even have a Cigar Room for guests to enjoy a fine cigar with an after dinner liqueur. Cynthia's has won awards from The Toronto Sun for excellence and the Eat Smart award for healthy cuisine.
